Arena Season 4 is right around the corner

June 24th! Not only does this mean new, badass gear for the hardcore PVPers (Spartan helmets, anyone?), but new gear for the casual guys too. With the Season 2 sets purchasable with regular honor points, we should see many more regular players running around with Tier 5 equivalent gear and guild progression should pick up a bit.

We economists know what new gear means! The demand for enchants, cut gems, leg armor and spellthread will be on the rise. So it’s time to start hoarding for a week or two while we wait for Season 4 to roll around. I just started on a new server about a month ago so I’ve been working hard on earning as much gold as I can to stock up on the materials needed to buff all the new gear that’ll be floating around.

It’s probably not safe to buy out the AH, but definitely watch the trade channel and keep tabs on auctions throughout the day. Try to snag as many deals as you can on all of the high-end materials needed for the gear buffs mentioned above. Just hoard em until Season 4 starts and sell at your discretion.

On an unrelated note, I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates lately. Will, our main writer, has been very busy lately and hasn’t found the time to post. I’ve been working on some exclusive tools for WoW Economist readers (yea, that’s you!). They’ll be in their beta stage in the next week or two, so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, I’ve got a lot of ideas (with the help of your suggestions) for new articles so I’ll be sure to write more often. If you’ve got any ideas for a post, just leave a comment below and let me know so I can take note of it.

So, what do you anticipate to be the big sellers for Season 4?

With the availability of the Epic Gems from SSO/Badges, you think the Blue Gem market is still going to be strong?

I’m planning on stocking up on some LP Shards. For some reason, voids are still selling about 2-4g cheaper than 2LPS’s on my server, so I’ve been buying & shattering for a marginal profit. With the need for new enchants I think the price for both voids & LPS will rise a bit.

my prediction is that for 2 weeks after S4 prices will be CRAZY.

LPS will go through the roof - get as many as possible - voids are a good way so start looking now.

Start DE’ing lvl 66+ green weps for essence. Arc dust wont move too much cuz theres so much of it about.

if your a miner… go nuts. The gem market will go crazy. Not just for epic gems but blue gems too. Not everyone can afford to fully kit out in epics right at the start of S4 so blues will sell…just gotta know which ones ;P

Primals - which primals are used to make the popular PvP metas…. hint hint. Start x-muting diamonds now

Imagine each person getting 4+ new items on a single day and wanting gems/chants for em all.

We’re a couple of days past the S4 update, so I figured I’d give an update on my AH sucesses and failures.

The Tuesday rush for me saw GPE’s almost triple in value on my server from 5g to 15-20g, so I made a bunch of money off those. I think too many people were focused on the LPS & Void market. Voids shot up initially from 30g to 45-50g to finally bring them equal with the LPS market. LPS went from around 20g to 27g at the high.

What shocked me was the amount of money I was able to make on Arcane Dust. Lots of people were posting single dust for 2-2.5g even though there were full and partial stacks up in the 1-1.25g range. So I posted 20 single stacks at 1.75g & they all sold within about 1/2 hr.

The Primal market saw a slight rise, but nothing incredible. Most of my cash was made off enchanting mats. Overall profit to date, about 2000g.
